Cupcake #68 **sold**

Chocolate and raspberry, what a great combination! I love how Scott painted the swirls in the icing, highlighting each edge. The pink background has been neutralised a little bit, softening it. A perfect piece for the sweetie in your life! There will be no cupcake tomorrow morning in celebration of New Years Day, but we'll see you bright and early Monday morning with cupcake #69. Happy 2010 everyone!

Cupcake #67 **sold**

Check out the triple peaks on this lemon meringue beauty! Lemon surrounded by lime. I can just see this piece in a very formal space, beautifully decorated in deep chocolate browns with an accent of spring green, then you see this painting, sitting on an end table, or hanging in a little spot on the wall, what a great shot of fun! That will give the bridge club something to talk about! Enjoy

Cupcake #66 **sold**

I just love this snowy little winter cupcake! White is an interesting color because it can reflect so much color around it, yet be so neutral. Piled high with icing, it is a very complex pattern, perfect for a New Years party, or winter wedding! A great gift idea, as it stands alone beautifully, or would be a perfect neutral piece to "rest the eyes" between cupcakes if you have, or plan on collecting, a bunch! Enjoy, and come back tomorrow, we have some beauties lined up for the rest of the week!

Cupcake #65 **sold**

This rich chocolate cupcake is sitting pretty in a purple cup, covered in bits of candy. Cinnamon candy I think, we'll have to test that later! The candy, cup and background are all analogous colors, as red, purple and blue sit next to each other on the color wheel. Although a cool ultramarine blue would sit closer than this almost turquoise. Enough of that for our first day back! Hope you all had a great holiday, and we'll see you with #66 bright and early tomorrow!

Cupcake #64 **sold**

Okay, Okay Uncle we cried! This is the last cupcake before Christmas! We both have a daunting list of commissions and other things to do before the big day, so the Daily Cupcake is going to take a week off. We will be back, full of sprinkles, and cherries, and whatever else we can dream up on Monday Dec. 28th. The emergency cupcake hot line, however will still be open. If you were planning on giving a sweet cupcake painting, and just couldn't nab one in time, email me, we'll squeeze one in. In the meantime we leave you with a winner, berries and cream, on a bold red background. And don't forget, there are still a few available waaaay back in the archives, check out number 6, 41, and 59. See you on the 28th!

Cupcake #63 **sold**

Everything tastes better with a cherry on top! And a little cherry drizzle can't hurt either. This little cupcake is piled high, then surrounded by pistachio green. Do you have the perfect spot for this painting? It will brighten up the dullest laundry room, or that spot at the top of the stairs. Maybe even a last minute Christmas gift? Without having to go to the mall! Enjoy your day!

Cupcake # 62 **sold**

Oh how festive! My favorite thing about this painting is how Scott painted those little gold balls. I'm sure they have a proper name in the cake decorating world, as a child I thought they were pure magic! The background was painted a toned down gold color to make the bright gold spots really pop. That goes back to the color theory question about how to change a color, with "change the color around it," being the final answer. If the background was painted a bright yellow, the significance of the gold balls would be diminished as they would blend into the background. Go on, add a little sparkle to your walls!

Cupcake #61 **sold**

Scott insists this is a winter themed cupcake because it has cranberries and a dusting of powdered sugar "snow" on top. Personally I think the sunny yellow background would melt any snow in a heartbeat! Piled with fruit and cream, it's the primary colors that make this little number sing, and it's sure to brighten someones day!

Cupcake #60 **sold**

Wow! Cupcake #60, and we're still going strong! This is a rather formal looking piece, a very neutral background surrounding a deep chocolate cupcake with a creamy swirl of icing. A touch of coral red sugar, it is then finished with a curl of white and dark chocolate. This would make a good companion piece to one with red or coral being the dominant color. Or it would be super in a group to keep the brighter pieces from fighting with each other. One of those strong, silent types! Enjoy!

Cupcake #59 **sold**

With a nod to the holiday season, may we present a cranberry cupcake. With pink icing and little curls of grated white chocolate, I can tell you first hand how yummy this was! But there is something different about this piece, it seems to be floating in mid air!? No shadow to rest on, and the blue seems to get a little lighter at the bottom, did we forget something? Actually we've decided to do a "series within a series" if you will. This is the first "Floater." They'll all be floating on various sky colored backgrounds, from wintry grey, to sunrise peach. We'll do a new one from time to time, you may want to add a few of these to your collection, or you may want to start a new collection around these. I don't know about you, but these make me smile!

Cupcake #58 **sold**

A sweet chocolate cupcake, a mound of mocha icing, and a bright red rose, all sitting on a sunny yellow background. What can I say, it's just a happy thing! Ready to brighten up a kitchen, or sweeten up that dull spot in the hall. It's sure to warm up a wintry day!

Cupcake #57 **sold**

Now this is a stunning cupcake! We were at The Atlanta Cupcake Factory last week (shameless plug) when I saw this cupcake. "Oooh, do this one!" Scott said he didn't think he could, how do you paint red sugary glitter? But we bought it anyway, and a few days later he comes down the studio stairs with this. Wow, it's like Dorothy's ruby red slippers, and red candy apples rolled into one! All on an eggplant colored background, who would have thought a cupcake could be so dramatic? Cheers to the drama queens in our lives!

Cupcake #56 **sold**

This pretty little lemon lime cupcake sits on a pink polka dot background. It reminds me of a frozen margarita, in both color and shape. Sounds like a good recipe idea to me! This is almost a complementary discord, to get it right, the pink background would have to be as light as, or lighter than the green. The pink and green are already complementary colors. But in any case, it's sure to make someone smile...and you can tell them it's a margarita cupcake if you want!

Cupcake #55 **sold**

Oooh...the weather outside is frightful....da dee da da dada. Here we have it folks, the first holiday themed cupcake! There will be a few, popularity will be the deciding factor. Some will be subtle, like this one, so you can stand to keep it up all year. Others may be a little more seasonal, to be pulled out each year with the stockings or whatnot. Really, if it's your cupcake, you'll do whatever you want, right!? Ruby red and forest green, raspberries and chocolate chips, it's just a pretty thing! Cheers!

Cupcake #54 **sold**

Wow, this is the first cupcake we've posted that is so, well, orange! Unashamedly orange, the color of those little tins of mandarin oranges. Actually, I think it is really quite pretty, and orange is the complementary color to blue, right color theory fans? This would look fabulous in a neutral setting, or on olive green, or if you have a kitchen like ours, simply full of color! This is one of those paintings that I will miss when it goes!

Cupcake #53 **sold**

This little beauty came down the studio stairs, and all I could think was, mmm chocolate raspberry truffle! There is something perfectly magical about the flavor combination of chocolate and raspberry! This cupcake is surrounded by a deep coral color, showing off the raspberry prize! We are off to the big city today in search of new models, cupcake models that is! Have a great day!

Cupcake #52 **sold**

There is simply nothing shy about this little painting. The swirl of purple icing is surrounded by it's complementary color, which really makes this piece pop! Sometimes in order to figure out what the opposite color on the color wheel would be, you need to map it out. Start by drawing a small circle, place yellow at the top, purple at the bottom, and fill in the other colors along the edge. Clockwise this would read yellow, orange, red, purple, blue, green, and back to yellow again. Then you can find this purple would actually fall somewhere between purple and red, then shoot across the wheel to find it's complement...which winds up between yellow and green. Enjoy this cupcake, alone or in a group, it just sings!

Cupcake #51 **sold**

We have so many cupcakes that would look great in a little girl's room, but this one is surely on track for the little boy in your life! If you are trying to match it up with another, you have plenty of color choices to run with in the sprinkles on top. Enjoy!
