Cupcake #137 **sold**

There is just something magical about the combination of fudge and banana, top it with whipped cream and you are one step closer to heaven. This mouth watering confection is sitting on a cheery yellow polka dot background. Can you see the pale wash of purple grey Scott used to give the banana slices a little texture around the edges? That touch of yellow's compliment gives them a little more life than plain grey. Enjoy, and we'll see you tomorrow!

Cupcake #136 **sold**

A mandarin orange slice and blueberries top this charming cupcake in it's snazzy blue cup. Orange and blue are complementary colors, as they sit opposite each other on the color wheel, and they make each other shine both visually, and in flavor! Surrounded by a clear baby blue, this will make a great addition to any cupcake collection. Enjoy!

Cupcake #135 **sold**

Here's a super early cupcake for your Monday morning! We are just about to get back on the road from Houston to home. Yay! The interesting thing about this cupcake is the background, the rich reds and burgundies look like velvet. And the red shows off the mocha frosting and shiny cherry. Hope your day has a cherry on top, and we'll be back on schedule with our mid day postings tomorrow!

Cupcake #134 **sold**

A simple vanilla cupcake piled high with what looks like ribbons of icing. Using with a warm color palette, yellows through burgundy, keeps this piece unified. Enjoy, and don't forget to find us again tomorrow for our Saturday cupcake!

Cupcake #133 **sold**

I love this one! A soft, neutral palette, creamy butter yellow and pale grey. This is the perfect cupcake for a quiet little spot, or a great one to bridge bright colors if you have a group. Quiet, conservative, yet still a great conversation starter! Enjoy!

Cupcake #132 **sold**

A cupcake piled high with chocolate icing, curled chocolate bark, and not one, but two green maraschino cherries! The background is brick red, to complement the green. I'll keep this short, but sweet this morning, have a great day!

Cupcake #131 **sold**

It's funny how after posting over 130 cupcakes they can still have distinct personalities! This one just makes me smile, in sort of a six year old's birthday party kinda way! Simple red and yellow, primary colors, with a couple of slices of strawberry on top. The background has subtle polka dots to mirror the big ones in the cup. We are off to The Bayou City Arts Festival in Houston, TX this morning. No cupcakes at that show, I'll be there with my work instead, if you're not familiar with what I do, take a look at I will still be posting a cupcake each day, but like this morning the time will be much more random. And I won't be able to check emails again until the end of the day, so they may be sold before I get a chance to mark them as such. But as always it's first come first serve, so good luck!

Cupcake #130 **sold**

What a sharp little cupcake! Pale green, chartreuse maybe, dotted with white and turquoise sprinkles. All surrounded by a pale steel blue, this makes for an elegant, modern color scheme. A row of tiny pale dots near the top adds to the ultra modern look. And if you've been paying attention you'll know that pale blue and green are analogous colors sitting next to each other on the color wheel. And, since the blue is tinted lighter than the green... you have an analogous discord color theory fans! Cheers!

Scott just can't help himself sometimes.... Today's cupcake, chocolate, piled high with white frosting, and topped with, well, looks like "Scott" cookies to me. The background, a warm brick red has a subtle line of dots just about cookie level to make sure you get the joke. An amusing addition to a kitchen decorated in warm earth tones, your office, even the man cave! Enjoy!

Cupcake #128 **sold**

We posted a cupcake a few weeks ago with a dog's head on top, so we thought we'd better keep things "even steven" around here. No discrimination in this house, especially as we have a dog, and three cats! Chocolate, a white sugar kitty, all surrounded by a pale, crisp green. Have a great weekend, we'll be back with the latest on Monday!

Cupcake #127 **sold**

This was a perfectly amazing cupcake! A warm (or perhaps even hot) cooked strawberry was laid on top of the icing...and it slowly melted into the top. Pure heaven! Our new favorite from the Atlanta Cupcake Factory. Chocolate sprinkles top it off, we ate it...and it was good!

Cupcake #126 **sold**

Today's cupcake reminds me of my Grandparents, licorice all sorts are a staple in their home, and a favorite of my Grandpa. These little candies are quite sculptural on their own. Nested in a mound of yellow icing, surrounded by blue. Maybe this little cupcake will remind you of someone! Enjoy!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! If you've been watching the Daily Cupcake for any time now you should have seen this coming, just wait until you see what we have in store for April Fool's Day! This is a simple vanilla cupcake done up in spring green icing with a lucky shamrock on top. Great if you have a little of the Irish in you, or even if you're just looking for a little of the luck! Cheers! And good luck finding that pot o gold!

Cupcake #124 **sold**

A simple, and very symmetrical cupcake to keep your day on track! I love the combination of lemon yellow and pale, pale turquoise blue. A calming duo that mirrors the feeling of blue sky and sunshine. You can see the black underpainting quite well in the cup on this one, Scott was painting with an almost dry brush, and the result almost looks like chalk pastels. The color just dusting the top layer of the canvas. Have a great day!

Cupcake #123 **sold**

A chocolate cupcake crowned with a heap of whipped icing and a sprinkle of chocolate chips, pure heaven! Surrounded by a pale pink background to balance the blues and greens on the cup, this little piece is very versatile. It would pair well with another cupcake sitting on a taupe, blue or green background, or it would sit very happily on it's own. Speaking of sitting, did you know these pieces don't actually have to hang on a wall? They sit very nicely on there own on a table, windowsill, or in a bookshelf. See you tomorrow!

Cupcake #122 **sold**

A simple cupcake topped with peanut butter icing, and banana slices. Oh, but wait! It's not so simple after all, that combination makes this cupcake "The Elvis!" And what would the King of Rock and Roll have for a background, but royal purple. Black velvet was a close second, but we settled on the purple, have a great day!

Cupcake #121 **sold**

I just love this one! Sherbet (or sherbert, or sorbet...depending on where you're from) colors, the orange and green just play so well off each other. Little flecks of lime green in the fluffy white icing, I don't know for sure, but this looks like a margarita cupcake to me! I think Scott may have invented a new line of cupcakes, margarita cupcakes, daiquiri cupcakes, the possibilities are endless! Cheers!

Cupcake #120 **sold**

Red velvet cake, a southern specialty, topped with a creamy icing, pecans, and of course a cherry on top! Put a pale blue background around it and you have another version of a primary triad. Pale, slightly neutral versions of red, yellow, and blue, all at equal distance from each other (more or less) on the color wheel. Add to this an almost symmetrical composition, with the left and right sides being very similar, and you have a simple, pleasing cupcake, with great style! Enjoy!

Cupcake #119 **sold**

Oh, chocolate, deep fudgey chocolate. You can tell the icing has to be thick and dense when it holds a sharp edge like this, and Scott has caught every highlight and shadow, taking your eye on a little journey through the swirls. All that surrounded by a beautiful canary singing at the top of his voice kind of yellow...with polka dots no less! Yellow is one of the few colors that has very little wiggle room, a bit too far in this direction and it looks green, and go the other way and it's orange. In fact, although I call the background here yellow, Scott has decided it is orange, we'll leave it for you to decide!

Cupcake #118 **sold**

Cupcake #118 is a sunny little number, topped with jelly beans. Lemon yellow icing, pink jelly beans, and a turquoise background make for a variation on a primary color triad, with the bright reds just tossed in there to keep things interesting! Yellow and blue remind me of sunny days, hope you are having one today! Enjoy!

Cupcake #117

A happy little birthday cupcake on pink. Sprinkled with all the colors of the rainbow...well the basics anyway! Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and Violet. My 4th grade science teacher added "Indigo" between blue and violet to help remember the order by giving it a name, Roy G Biv. Only problem with that is indigo would actually fit between green and blue in the color spectrum (sigh.) But I guess it worked as far as the remembering I'm telling you about it 30+ years later! Enjoy this little treat, and if you know of a little girl with a birthday coming, starting an art collection sounds like a great gift idea to me!

Cupcake #116 **sold**

Good morning from Tampa FL, I'm down here for the Gasparilla Arts Festival, so I'm posting cupcakes when I can! Today's is a beautiful raspberry on cream cupcake surrounded by a subtle taupe background. Perfect for the office, or wherever you want something that isn't too "girly." Taupe is one of those great neutral colors that works well with pretty much anything, and lets all the other colors sing! Enjoy!

Cupcake #115 **sold**

This cupcake is showing off its complementary colors! Yellow and purple swirl together in a great floral shape. Complementary colors can be used to neutralize each other, add a bit of purple to yellow and you go from bright lemon to yellow ochre into deep mustard, but just a bit! Never underestimate the power of purple! Enjoy your day, I'll be posting Saturday's cupcake early tomorrow, and Monday, so be on the lookout!

Cupcake #114 **sold**

A sugar pansy tops this sweet little lemon cupcake, showing off its complementary colors. Purple and yellow sit opposite each other on the color wheel, yet show up together so often in spring flowers. A beautiful cool blue background pulls it all together. Think blue skies and spring flowers, warmer weather can't be far away! Enjoy, and tell a friend about Scott's Daily Cupcake, pass it on!

Cupcake #113 **sold**

A delicious deep chocolate cupcake, all dressed up with a cherry on top. The background is a coral color that reminds me of a deep sunset red. Red is an amazingly versatile color. From the fire engine reds, pure and brilliant, through all the variations of tints and shades. Brick red, salmon pink, fuchsia, burgundy, all begin with red. Enjoy this little cupcake, and all the color that goes with it!

Cupcake #112 **sold**

This is sure to brighten someones day! Carrot cake, cream cheese icing, all on a sunny yellow background. I remember trying carrot cake as a child and being absolutely sure I wasn't going to like it. Carrots? in cake? ick. Silly girl! Have a great day!

Cupcake #111 **sold**

What a lovely cupcake, chocolate, with a scoop of chocolate mint icing, topped with a mini Oreo cookie. You can see the light shimmering off the sugary chocolate, all that with a fresh clean blue background. The background takes me back to my box of crayola crayons, they had a "cornflower blue." Now I'd never seen a cornflower, but I loved this color, blue with a hint of purple. Blue and green sit next to each other on the color wheel, this makes them analogous colors. And both are beautiful with rich chocolate brown. Cheers!
