
Oh how festive! My favorite thing about this painting is how Scott painted those little gold balls. I'm sure they have a proper name in the cake decorating world, as a child I thought they were pure magic! The background was painted a toned down gold color to make the bright gold spots really pop. That goes back to the color theory question about how to change a color, with "change the color around it," being the final answer. If the background was painted a bright yellow, the significance of the gold balls would be diminished as they would blend into the background. Go on, add a little sparkle to your walls!
