Cupcake #30 **sold**

Happy Halloween! I love it when something so simple just tickles my funny bone, and this makes me giggle every time I look at it. Of course, hearing Scott in the background singing danananananana-BATcake!! in the background helps the funny factor. Have a great weekend, and we'll see you bright and early Monday morning. Oh, and "boo! y'all!"

Cupcake #29 **sold**

This cupcake, in addition to being perfectly gorgeous, is a great example for a little color theory lesson. We are all familiar with the primary color triad, being red, yellow, and blue. But this piece uses a secondary color triad, being green, orange, and purple. All of these colors are made by mixing two of the primaries together, and sit at equal distances from each other on the color wheel. That's what gives this piece such a nice sense of balance. Well that, and the fact that none of the blackberries are rolling off the top! A sweet addition to any collection!

Cupcake #28 **sold**

Apparently we just can't resist a good seasonal cupcake, and this one covers either Halloween, or Thanksgiving! Warm fall colors, a little shredded coconut, and a marzipan pumpkin, perfect for this time of year. And for a variety of reasons which I won't go into here, this reminds me of my Dad, and this is his Birthday. Have a great day!

Cupcake #27 **sold**

Mmmm, chocolate! With the pale turquoise giving it a bit of retro flair. Speaking of retro, do you remember how homemade icing would get a bit of a hard crust when left out for a while? It was so good to bite into! With all these blues this would be a good choice for the baby's room, or any spot where a shot of turquoise would brighten things up! Have a great day!

Cupcake #26 **sold**

This may just be the perfect cupcake! Raspberries, cream, and chocolate, all on a raspberry pink background. I love the way it's painted, top to bottom. A great addition if your collection is already in the works, or a dynamite one to start out with...cheers!

Cupcake #25 **sold**

A new blueberry cupcake! My favorite thing about this piece isn't the way it's decorated, but how you can see the purple stain from the blueberries coming through the paper cup. Although the whipped cream icing is very pretty! This brings us to the close of 5 weeks on the daily cupcake, and over two dozen paintings. But we will be back bright and early next week with more, see you then!

Cupcake #24 **sold**

Here's the promised cupcake featuring more warm fall colors, and candy corn! Scott says he may try to fit in one more Halloween influenced piece before the big day next week. If you are wondering how you'd like a seasonal painting up all year, there are alternatives. If you just have one cupcake hanging in your kitchen, this could be the one you hang in the autumn, replacing another. Or if you have a group of cupcakes, this one is a good strong piece that tells the story of when it was added to the collection. And will later enjoy the company of a Christmas, or Valentine inspired piece. Who knows, you may just love candy corn!

Cupcake #23 **sold**

Oh, what a great Birthday gift! Perfect for that "have no idea what to get them" person in your life. I think even the grumpiest birthday boy or girl would have to crack a smile when they see this! And, it has no calories...or saturated fat for that matter! This one really does speak for itself, enjoy!

Cupcake #22 **sold**

If you have a more traditional kitchen, or simply more traditional tastes, this may be the piece for you. A carrot cake cupcake, complete with marzipan carrot on top. I have always had a fascination with marzipan fruit. I can remember peeking at trays of the magical little creations with my Grandma at the Dutch Bakery in Victoria, wondering how they made them! But, back on topic, the creamy beige's, and warm orange's make this the perfect addition to your fall decor. And although I don't want to give away any secrets, autumn colors will make an appearance again later in the week! Cheers!

Cupcake #21 **sold**

Good morning everyone! This little number is fresh from a good weekend's painting in the studio. I don't know about you, but I can practically feel the coconut tickling my upper lip! For you color theory buffs out there, this is a good example of complementary discord. Complementary because red and green are opposites on the color wheel, and discord because the value of the red (it's lightness or darkness) is lightened to a similar value as the green. Probably more than you wanted to know this early on a Monday! Enjoy, and keep in touch, because I've seen some beauties coming down the stairs!

Cupcake #20! **sold**

Wow, here we are with cupcake #20, that brings us to the end of four weeks on the daily cupcake! But have no fear, we have grand aspirations with this project, which we will reveal as time goes by! In the meantime #20 is a juicy little reminder of summer, now that we've had to turn the furnace on even in Georgia! Warm corals with that delicious deep purple. And you know the cupcake must have been warm to make the icing run off like that!

If you like this blog, share it with your friends! In the meantime we'll see you bright and early on Monday with cupcake #21!

Cupcake #19 **sold**

I absolutely love this girly little cupcake. And when Scott came down the studio stairs with it, a whole flurry of ideas marched into my head. Wouldn't this be a neat gift for a bride, or her bridesmaids? Especially for those who use cupcakes as the wedding cake, Scott could whip up a batch of little paintings that look just like the real thing. In the meantime, this little number would love to live in a little girl's room, who knows, it may spread a little sweetness!

Cupcake #18 **sold**

Here we go with cupcake #18. Although this piece looks quite unassuming at first, you will find it is actually loaded with color. From all the variations in the paper cup, to the pretty flecks of coral and pink in the cake. Complemented by the deep coral background with those cool little orbit like things going on back there. It has a bit of retro flair going on! And of course it's caramel, who could resist caramel? Have a sweet day!

Cupcake #17 **sold**

There is nothing "baby" about these blues! The fluffy white icing holds a scattering of blueberries, and the background just dances. And to balance all those cool blues, you'll find lots of warm highlights. Have I mentioned these little pieces don't have to hang on a wall? The canvas is deep enough that it can stand alone on a windowsill, or coffee table like a little piece of sculpture. I'm sure it will find the perfect home!

Cupcake #16 **sold**

Oh, such a grown up cupcake! And this time the chocolate is in the background...Yes folks, for me it really is just about the chocolate. But really, this one isn't destined just for the baby's room, it would hold it's own even in a formal dining room. I guess since this is technically my blog I can pick my favorites, right?

Cupcake #15 **sold**

This is such a sunny, happy piece! The primary color triad just makes it, with flecks of yellow dancing in the background. And I love the way the light bounces off the blueberries. We will be packing up the cupcakes and taking them to their first public show this weekend, but we'll be back with cupcake #16 up first thing Monday morning. We'll see you then!

Cupcake #14 **sold**

As a color theory junkie I am tempted to rave on about the triad used in this piece, or the stunning use of analogous discord. But I will resist (barely) and just say this is just so fresh and beautiful I can't help but stare. It would fit so well in a retro kitchen, a little girl's room, or smack in the middle of any soft neutral room, just to watch it sing. Can you tell I have a new favorite!?

Cupcake #13 **sold**

This little mocha cupcake was one of the first paintings finished in this series. I keep seeing it in a little boy's room, an original piece of art that would grow with him. But it is grown up enough to hold it's own in the kitchen, or anywhere! Keep checking back, the new works emerging from the studio are getting better and better, I'm loving watching the process!

Cupcake #12 **sold**

This little sweetie was completed late last night, and I liked it so much I put it at the front of the line! The blackberries remind me of home (Vancouver Island, B.C.) where they grow abundantly in the late summer. Can't you just taste it? This little 5" x 5" original acrylic on canvas is available for $110 including shipping.

Cupcake #11 **sold**

This little piece makes me smile every time I look at it. We bought the model for this painting at the Atlanta Cupcake Factory, (shameless plug.) And what can I say, but I love how they elevated something so simple and traditional as a cupcake to such a new wave form! This painting puts the "fun" into funky! Enjoy!

Cupcake #10! **sold**

I have good memories of this cupcake! Yes, I ate it, and it was goood! Cinnamon, and other warm spicy flavors. A grown up take on the subject, this seems the perfect fit as a birthday gift for the man in your life, simple and conservative, yet still prone to a giggle or two. This little beauty in autumn colors brings the second week of the daily cupcake to a close, We'll see you next week!

Cupcake #9 **sold**

In case you were wondering if these are posted in order of completion, they aren't. It's much more random than that. But I can tell you this was one of the first pieces in this series that Scott did, and therefore one of his first acrylic paintings. An "early cupcake" if you will. I love the raspberries on top, and the raspberry color in the background. This one looks like it was painted while it was still warm. A good choice for a cool fall morning.
