Cupcake #313

Luscious lemon, piled high and sprinkled with a bit of pink sugar. Sitting on a pale blue background. The use of pink yellow and blue makes this a primary triad, as the colors are all tints of the three primary colors. Using a triad, being three colors that are equal distance from each other on the color wheel gives this piece a good sense of balance. It works with purple, orange, and green too, try it!

Cupcake #303 **sold**

This simple creamy yellow cupcake just glows sitting on a dark background. You'll find surfing through past cupcakes that the backgrounds rarely get beyond mid range in the value scale. But the deep raisin brown works as a nice contrast to the pale colors of the subject. And the brown would make this little number pair up nicely with a dark chocolate cupcake! Enjoy!

Cupcake #252 **sold**

A sunny lemon yellow cupcake on a cool blue background. Simple, but not too sweet! Two of the three primary colors are represented here. The blue is a wee bit paler, and a little bit more on the purple side than what my computer monitor is showing. Blue is one of those colors with an amazing reach, it can stretch from blue green (turquoise) to almost purple, and we still call it blue. But I can tell you, if you have a traditional French themed kitchen, this will fit right in!

Cupcake #233 **sold**

Today's cupcake is pure summer! Strawberry lemonade, complete with a little straw for garnish. We actually taste tested this one, and the lemon icing was simply marvelous. The pink, yellow and blue completes a pastel version of the primary triad which makes for a beautifully balanced painting. A cold winter would be no match for this sunny cupcake, enjoy!

Cupcake #230 **sold**

Today's cupcake just sings summertime to me. Strawberry lemonade surrounded by a blue, blue sky. A polka dotted sky perhaps, but still. Working with a classic primary triad, of red, yellow and blue, a simple cupcake invokes a feeling of balance. Pure and simple.

Cupcake #212 **sold**

Ah, a sweet lemon cupcake! Topped with fresh blueberries, the lemon lime color is surrounded by a pale orange sorbet, or perhaps cantaloupe color. A delightful little piece to brighten up a room. Cheers!

Cupcake #210 **sold**

This little cupcake is a pretty collection of soft citrus colors, lemon, and orange, the background can probably best be described as pink grapefruit! Topped with a candy orange blossom, and curls of white chocolate. And the best part is the model is in my fridge! The news you may not know is that Scott's cupcakes can now be found on Facebook, so if you are a facebook junkie like me, just search for Scott's Cupcakes and "like" his page. Then you'll get a reminder each morning just before I post a new one. Cheers!

It's amazing how a little fancy icing can turn a little lemon cupcake into something resembling the Taj Mahal! Surrounded by a soft lavender to complement the yellow, this little piece is sure to brighten someones day! Cheers!

Cupcake #166 **sold**

A tart little lemon cupcake is sitting on a lime green background. Topped with a thin slice of fresh lemon, this is no kiddie cupcake! Green and yellow are analogous colors, as they sit next to each other on the color wheel, and they play beautifully off one another. A bright, fresh addition to any room, enjoy!

Cupcake #162 **sold**

Wow, cupcake #162, that's a lot of cupcakes! This little number is all about the cup, a jazzy pattern of swooshes and spots. The background is a thick yellow orange, the color of sweet potatoes. One of those "grown up" colors I occasionally talk about, a rich warm color, but if you ask any 6 year old what their favorite color is, mashed pumpkin is not likely the answer you'll get! This will pair perfectly with a cupcake with a blue or moss green background! Cheers!

Cupcake #126 **sold**

Today's cupcake reminds me of my Grandparents, licorice all sorts are a staple in their home, and a favorite of my Grandpa. These little candies are quite sculptural on their own. Nested in a mound of yellow icing, surrounded by blue. Maybe this little cupcake will remind you of someone! Enjoy!

Cupcake #124 **sold**

A simple, and very symmetrical cupcake to keep your day on track! I love the combination of lemon yellow and pale, pale turquoise blue. A calming duo that mirrors the feeling of blue sky and sunshine. You can see the black underpainting quite well in the cup on this one, Scott was painting with an almost dry brush, and the result almost looks like chalk pastels. The color just dusting the top layer of the canvas. Have a great day!

Cupcake #118 **sold**

Cupcake #118 is a sunny little number, topped with jelly beans. Lemon yellow icing, pink jelly beans, and a turquoise background make for a variation on a primary color triad, with the bright reds just tossed in there to keep things interesting! Yellow and blue remind me of sunny days, hope you are having one today! Enjoy!
