A happy little birthday cupcake on pink. Sprinkled with all the colors of the rainbow...well the basics anyway! Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and Violet. My 4th grade science teacher added "Indigo" between blue and violet to help remember the order by giving it a name, Roy G Biv. Only problem with that is indigo would actually fit between green and blue in the color spectrum (sigh.) But I guess it worked as far as the remembering goes...as I'm telling you about it 30+ years later! Enjoy this little treat, and if you know of a little girl with a birthday coming, starting an art collection sounds like a great gift idea to me!

Cupcake #109 **sold**

A simple little vanilla cupcake with sprinkles. When we think vanilla we think white, or cream, maybe with a hint of yellow. But take a look at the color peeking out from this cupcake. If we were talking about additive color theory, such as what happens when different colored lights are used, white is considered a mixture of all the primaries. Theatre lighting is where you would use additive color theory. But on canvas, adding color to whites gives them life! Usually this is achieved by allowing reflected colors to show through, like Scott did here, the deep burgundy background is reflected in the icing. The whole thing is just warm and inviting, a cupcake like your grandma would have made! Enjoy!

Wow, can you tell we had a couple of spring like days here over the weekend!? Scott's palette has been totally taken over with yellows and spring greens, how refreshing! Scott wanted everyone to know that we picked this cupcake up at The Atlanta Cupcake Factory, and it was ceremoniously devoured moments after this painting was finished, still warm from sitting under his desk lamp, one of the best things I've ever put in my mouth! OK, back on track, this is sure to put a little spring in your step, and it pairs beautifully with yesterday's cupcake which somehow has not sold yet! Imagine that! Have a great day!

Strap on your party hat, it is time for the perfect birthday cupcake! Sometimes it's the simplest things that make our day. Vanilla on vanilla, but those sprinkles will always make me smile. This could be a super cool gift for a friend or a way to celebrate everyday like it's your birthday! In any case it's hard to look at this without the corners of your mouth turning up, just a little! Enjoy your day, I'm looking forward to what Scott will bring down the studio stairs for tomorrow!

Here we go with cupcake #2. This one is a little more "grown up", with a warm pumpkin background. And with true Scott Coleman passion for detail, each little sprinkle has it's own shadow! What a great birthday gift idea!
