A pale lemon yellow cupcake sits in a fancy paper cup. Accented by a circle of whipped cream, and resting on a baby blue background, this sweet thing is sure to make someone smile. Enjoy!

Cupcake #254 **sold**
I have to tell you, today's cupcake has me hearing the theme song to "The Pink Panther." And I'm sure I have just passed on the thought! Beginning with chocolate, and ending with a drizzle of strawberry, you know it has to be good. This pink has just a touch of blue in it, which differentiates it from peach, at the other end of the red spectrum, leaning towards orange. Have a great day, and we'll see you tomorrow!

A sunny lemon yellow cupcake on a cool blue background. Simple, but not too sweet! Two of the three primary colors are represented here. The blue is a wee bit paler, and a little bit more on the purple side than what my computer monitor is showing. Blue is one of those colors with an amazing reach, it can stretch from blue green (turquoise) to almost purple, and we still call it blue. But I can tell you, if you have a traditional French themed kitchen, this will fit right in!

With all the latest hooha being about savory, or even spicy cupcakes, here we have one hot little number. Could it be a cornbread cupcake with a cream cheese icing that has been nudged into a whole new realm with a bit of cayenne pepper? Who knows, Scott did this one without a model. But all these warm colors, although they don't seem like much now, will almost allow you to set the thermostat a degree or two cooler this winter! Almost!

Cupcake #250
Wow, cupcake #250 kinda crept up on me, no fanfare, no trumpets, it just happened! It is a simple chocolate cupcake, more of a milk chocolate, with a soft creamy brown icing. The background is a delicate robin's egg blue. I love the almost antique looking combination of this blue and brown. Very sophisticated, you could hang this in the most elegant dining room. And I hope you will!

Cupcake #248 is not shy, in fact if we wanted to try to "personify" this cupcake a little more, one could say she has a fit of the giggles. A swirl of mint green tops a thick chocolate glaze, surrounded by a bubbly fuchsia background . Red and green are complementary colors, and although this fuchsia is a little more on the blue side, it still makes this green pop. Sweet!

Today's cupcake has all the makings of cupcake bliss. Red velvet cake on the bottom, (it's a southern thing,) thick cream cheese icing, topped with a plump pecan and a scattering of chocolate curls. All surrounded by a pure clean blue background that makes the pale yellows and browns in this piece shine. Enjoy!

The model for today's cupcake was made by Rosemary at the Atlanta Cupcake Factory! A sweet sugar bird nests in a swirl of peachy icing dotted with a rainbow of sprinkles. The background color, a soft celery green was chosen to "keep it in the family." The color family that is! Orange (which becomes peach with a little white) sits next to yellow on the color wheel, and yellow sits next to green. So by choosing a group of neighbors on the color wheel, you come up with a cohesive composition. Big words for a little cupcake! And yes, it was very, very good!

A sweet cherry coconut cupcake on a deep red background. The background was deliberately toned down with a bit of black to make the bright red cherry on top shine through. One of the more interesting rules of color theory is that you can change a color (or your perception of it) by simply changing the color around it. A neutral color around a color will make it pop, and a bright color will make it fade a bit, try this at home!

Summer in Georgia means peach ice cream, so I imagine that has something to do with Scott dreaming up this peach icing! Topped with three fresh raspberries. I don't know how the raspberry, chocolate, peach combo would taste, but is sure is pretty. The yellow background makes the peach just a little more "peachy!" Enjoy, and we'll be back tomorrow!

Cupcake #241 is a good example of complementary colors, yellow and purple sit across form each other on the color wheel and therefore are opposites. But this makes them sing when placed side by side. The background is a pale lilac, the frosting a pale lemon yellow, topped with a white and yellow flower. Simply yummy.

Mmmm, chocolate & coconut topped with a happy bumblebee. Why do I think he's happy? Wouldn't you be if you were sitting in chocolate!? The background is a bright sunny yellow with some very subtle polka dots. The model for today's painting came from the Atlanta Cupcake factory, our favorite stop! This little bee would bring a little sunshine to any kitchen, enjoy!

Cupcake #238 **sold**
A southern favorite, a red velvet cupcake. This one is topped with a whirl of lemon icing and a sweet candy heart. A great gift to tuck away for your sweetheart! The background is a pumpkin orange, which makes this a variation on an analogous color scheme. Red, yellow and orange all sit next to each other on the color wheel, and are therefore analogous colors. This one looks great paired with #236, give it a try!

Cupcake #237 **sold**
A vanilla cupcake topped with a swirl of pink icing. The cherry on top is that crazy artificial red color, the signature of a maraschino! The spring green background is the complementary color to the pink. A little on the yellow side to balance the pink being a touch on the purple side. All that being said, this little number is sure to brighten someone's day! Enjoy, and tell a friend!

Cupcake #236
Today's cupcake is simple, yet stunning. Vanilla cake topped with a triple dose of chocolate, surrounded by a beautiful deep pink. This color is made by mixing two different reds, cadmium red, and quinacridone magenta, with just a touch of white. Such a pure clean color it practically sings! Enjoy, and we'll see you again tomorrow!

Cupcake #235 **sold**
Today's cupcake, surrounded by a neutral olive green, would fit right in to the most conservative office setting. Topped with fresh raspberries and a blackberry nestled in thick cream. This is one to think about if your home is quite traditional, but you are looking for just a little spunk!
The daily cupcake is actually taking a short vacation! We'll be back Monday at noon with a cupcake that is sure to brighten your day. If you want this, or any other cupcake send me an email to the address listed on the left side of the page. Cupcakes are first come, first serve, I'll let you know if you were the first when we return on Monday. Have a great week!

Cupcake #234 **sold**
A new version of the carrot cake cupcake, the only cupcake that falls into the vegetable category! The palette on this piece is a version of a secondary triad. That being the three secondary colors, orange, green, and purple. The secondary colors are made by mixing two primaries. But enough with the color theory. The "carrot" on top is a piece of curled up candied ginger resting on a bed of whipped cream cheese icing. Heaven.

Cupcake #233 **sold**
Today's cupcake is pure summer! Strawberry lemonade, complete with a little straw for garnish. We actually taste tested this one, and the lemon icing was simply marvelous. The pink, yellow and blue completes a pastel version of the primary triad which makes for a beautifully balanced painting. A cold winter would be no match for this sunny cupcake, enjoy!
