What can I say about a banana cupcake? Bananas are the comedians of fruit, there's the never ending slip on a banana peel, and who hasn't shot someone with a banana "gun?" But this simple banana cupcake, piled with the fruit and cream seems to hardly entice a giggle. Even though it's surrounded by a beautiful banana yellow! So here's a treat for the banana lovers, or even the lovers of bright yellow, have a great day!

I love this one! A soft, neutral palette, creamy butter yellow and pale grey. This is the perfect cupcake for a quiet little spot, or a great one to bridge bright colors if you have a group. Quiet, conservative, yet still a great conversation starter! Enjoy!

Cupcake # 110 **sold**

This is such a grown up cupcake. Warm and creamy combinations of toffee, caramel, and soft vanilla. These are all mouth watering descriptions of neutral tones of brown and beige. Browns are tertiary colors, being colors made with all three primaries. Mostly yellow and red (making orange) neutralized with a bit of blue. Surrounded by a soft neutralized purplish blue, also a tertiary color. All these complicated color combinations work together beautifully, the result is a warm beige cupcake, that instead of being boring, simply glows!

I love this cupcake, I could hardly wait until noon to post it! I love everything from how the cake cracks a bit at the base of the creamy icing, to the beautiful pink that surrounds it. The hardest part is, the real thing is sitting in the fridge, calling me. Enjoy!

A lovely little neutral colored cupcake on a pale beige background. I love all the variations of color in the icing, showing off in the shadows. The sharp edge of black around the cupcake stands out in this piece. I don't think I've mentioned this before, but all of Scott's cupcakes start out with black underpainting, so all the bits of black that you see are coming through are from the very first layer of paint. It makes for a very graphic style. This little piece would stand very happily on it's own, especially in a quiet little spot. Or, it's a great piece to use as a buffer between the big color cupcakes in a group!

Everything is better with a cherry on top! Even chocolate, and you can hardly get better than chocolate! Brown is one of those delicious neutral colors that almost anything goes with, which is why you see it so easily paired with everything from robin egg blue, to celery green, or in this case, magenta! The background, a pale cream, just stays out of the way to let these two colors play! Have a great day, and eat chocolate!

A simple sunny vanilla cupcake covered in star shaped sprinkles. It's the cup itself that is my favorite part of this cupcake. The retro pattern reminds me drive in movies and roller skating. That should date me a bit! Surrounded by a warm pumpkin orange, this piece is sure to make somebody happy!

Raspberries and cream, even the words sound pretty. Raspberry is a hue or variation of red that leans towards the purple side of red, rather than the orange side. Although you'll never be able to walk into an art supply store and look for a tube of raspberry colored paint, it is there. It's just labeled a little more scientifically, like quinacridone magenta. I like to mix a little of that with a bit of cadmium red to get this juicy color, add a little white to lighten it and you're there! Enjoy this yummy cupcake! And we'll see you tomorrow!

What a beautiful little cupcake, Scott has captured the shine in the layer of chocolate perfectly. Topped with a couple of cherries and curls of dark chocolate, this is the cupcake that big girls dream about! Surrounded by a warm pink, this little piece would be sure to make someones day as a birthday or thank you gift!

Cupcake #80 **sold**

Oh, you just can't go wrong with raspberries and cream. All dressed up in a pink paper cup. The pale green background was chosen because if you find this raspberry pink on the color wheel you'll find it lands somewhere between red and purple. Then shoot directly across and you find a spot somewhere between yellow and green, and we all know colors that sit opposite on the color wheel are complementary colors. Add a little white to lighten and freshen it up and you end up with this pretty celery green. Yum! Have a great day!

A bright lemon cupcake resting on a blue background that is almost the color of the edge of a piece of glass. The yellow is topped with a bit of cream. A clean, simple piece that would be a lovely addition to your collection, or a lovely beginning of one! Have a great day!

Wow, this is the first cupcake we've posted that is so, well, orange! Unashamedly orange, the color of those little tins of mandarin oranges. Actually, I think it is really quite pretty, and orange is the complementary color to blue, right color theory fans? This would look fabulous in a neutral setting, or on olive green, or if you have a kitchen like ours, simply full of color! This is one of those paintings that I will miss when it goes!

Here's one for all you whipped cream fans (can I hear Herb Alpert in the background? Boy does that date me or what?) Mounds of puffy cream, lavender background, and all the pretty color variations in the cup, not to mention the cream itself. Notice the complimentary colors, yellow and purple reflecting on the white. This is one of Scott's favorites, we'll see you next week!

This little chocolate cupcake seems to be in a world of it's own, or orbit anyway! The creamy puff of icing is sprinkled with little chocolate minty bits. The background is a neutral almost peach color with an orbit of golden yellow. An interesting combination of transparent and opaque paint. Enjoy!

This may just be the perfect cupcake! Raspberries, cream, and chocolate, all on a raspberry pink background. I love the way it's painted, top to bottom. A great addition if your collection is already in the works, or a dynamite one to start out with...cheers!

Here we go with cupcake #18. Although this piece looks quite unassuming at first, you will find it is actually loaded with color. From all the variations in the paper cup, to the pretty flecks of coral and pink in the cake. Complemented by the deep coral background with those cool little orbit like things going on back there. It has a bit of retro flair going on! And of course it's caramel, who could resist caramel? Have a sweet day!
