Cupcake #120 **sold**

Red velvet cake, a southern specialty, topped with a creamy icing, pecans, and of course a cherry on top! Put a pale blue background around it and you have another version of a primary triad. Pale, slightly neutral versions of red, yellow, and blue, all at equal distance from each other (more or less) on the color wheel. Add to this an almost symmetrical composition, with the left and right sides being very similar, and you have a simple, pleasing cupcake, with great style! Enjoy!

Cupcake #113 **sold**

A delicious deep chocolate cupcake, all dressed up with a cherry on top. The background is a coral color that reminds me of a deep sunset red. Red is an amazingly versatile color. From the fire engine reds, pure and brilliant, through all the variations of tints and shades. Brick red, salmon pink, fuchsia, burgundy, all begin with red. Enjoy this little cupcake, and all the color that goes with it!

Cupcake #97 **sold**

Everything is better with a cherry on top! Even chocolate, and you can hardly get better than chocolate! Brown is one of those delicious neutral colors that almost anything goes with, which is why you see it so easily paired with everything from robin egg blue, to celery green, or in this case, magenta! The background, a pale cream, just stays out of the way to let these two colors play! Have a great day, and eat chocolate!

Cupcake #81 **sold**

What a beautiful little cupcake, Scott has captured the shine in the layer of chocolate perfectly. Topped with a couple of cherries and curls of dark chocolate, this is the cupcake that big girls dream about! Surrounded by a warm pink, this little piece would be sure to make someones day as a birthday or thank you gift!
On to another topic just for a moment, I have started another blog. This time featuring my work. It's brand spanking new, still tweaking a little here and there, but if you'd like to start watching it from day one, I guess this would be day one. You can find it at http://dresspaintings.blogspot.com/

Cupcake #75 **sold**

Wow, here we are at cupcake #75! Time flies when you're having fun as they say. Today's cupcake is perfectly gorgeous, but really how can you go wrong with chocolate and a cherry on top? All surrounded by my favorite color, purple. Which sounds much more sophisticated if you call it eggplant, or better yet, the french, aubergine. Cheers!

Cupcake #63 **sold**

Everything tastes better with a cherry on top! And a little cherry drizzle can't hurt either. This little cupcake is piled high, then surrounded by pistachio green. Do you have the perfect spot for this painting? It will brighten up the dullest laundry room, or that spot at the top of the stairs. Maybe even a last minute Christmas gift? Without having to go to the mall! Enjoy your day!

Cupcake #49 **sold**

Mmmm, a blueberry cupcake with a cherry on top, what could be better! Scott used a primary triad on this piece, being variations on red yellow and blue, which makes for a well balanced composition. Almost as well balanced as that cherry! And with Thanksgiving burnout setting in, that's about the most clever description I can come up with! Enjoy!

Cupcake #40 **sold**

Although I'm sure this is a chocolate cupcake with a key lime topping, it smacks of rainbow sherbet, ( sorbet?) The colors are fresh and clean, and the "cherry on top" is doing whatever is necessary to stay in the picture! A cheerful piece, with retro inspired colors, it reminds me of ice cream parlours and summer vacations! Have a great weekend!

Cupcake #21 **sold**

Good morning everyone! This little number is fresh from a good weekend's painting in the studio. I don't know about you, but I can practically feel the coconut tickling my upper lip! For you color theory buffs out there, this is a good example of complementary discord. Complementary because red and green are opposites on the color wheel, and discord because the value of the red (it's lightness or darkness) is lightened to a similar value as the green. Probably more than you wanted to know this early on a Monday! Enjoy, and keep in touch, because I've seen some beauties coming down the stairs!
